Proven Natural Medicines For Menopause

Have you thought about using natural medicines for your menopausal symptoms but just don't know what to use?

You may have read about the side-effects that HRT can cause and don't want to go down that road.

Choosing a natural medicine for menopause can be a bit of a mine field because what works for one, may not work for another and there are so many products out there claiming to help.

So where do you start….?

You start by only using natural medicines that have been proven to work and are backed up by clinically researched trials.
You may have to experiment a little with these ones but at least they have been proven to be of benefit and you are not using a 'look good, well marketed herb of the month' which has no scientific backing.

To this date, there are only four proven natural medicines that have been beneficial in aiding the symptoms of menopause.

1. Black Cohosh (Cimicifuga racemosa)

The product named Remifemin which contains Black cohosh, has had some promising results in treating menopause.
Studies have shown that Remifemin is just as effective as taking oestradiol that is found in prescription HRT.
Remifemin significantly reduces hot flushes.

2. Flaxseed

Flaxseed is not only a good source of omega 3 fatty acids but studies have shown that this natural substance can also reduce mild hot flushes.

3. Red Clover (Trifolium pratense)

A study completed on Red Clover (marketed as Promensil) showed a significant reduction in hot flushes, of up to 44%.
A dosage of 80mg per day was needed for this result.

4. Soy

Soy has had minimal research concerning it's use in menopause but so far the results have been good for the reduction of hot flushes.
Soy can be added to the diet or taken orally in tablet form.

There have been many studies done on many different natural medicines, but the four mentioned above are the only ones to have favorable researched results.

Some of the natural medicines that have been studied but did not receive favourable results include:

Wild Yam Cream, Dong Quai, Vitex Agnus castus, Panax ginseng and Evening Primrose Oil.
