What's Compassion Got To Do With Weight Loss? Everything!

Lani Muelrath, M.A., the Fitness DreamMaker

This week someone called me "compassionate coach" - and it was right on the heels of their email to me regarding the growth, change, and success they've found in fitness via our work together. The techniques to which she were referring were those that I improvised and utilized on my own, about 10 years ago, and which are becoming increasingly prevalent in my coaching.

You see, it is compassion for ourselves that is an important pivotal component for change. You are your own compassionate coach!

It was about 10 years ago….

…that I decided there MUST be another way to lasting fitness, weight loss, and peace of mind about the whole thing. I'd had skinny and miserable, fat and miserable, and all points in between. I knew that just "thin" didn't bring the promise of being comfortable in your own skin. I learned that the BEing comfortable NOW was the ticket. Then the outsides catch up. This is one way in which you show compassion for yourself!

I have found that this approach, and taking the time to do it all RIGHT, is actually THE fastest and easiest way to lasting success and fitness, energy acceleration, weight loss, or whatever combination thereof you might be seeking.

People who struggle with weight gain and/or fitness often want instant gratification. Yet the long term, successful solution to fitness and energy as well as dietary problems demands that we cultivate patience. If you're patient and take small steps every day, the results can be cumulatively, extraordinarily, astonishingly powerful. When you consistently do at least one thing daily to change a negative to a positive, I promise that powerful change will, without a doubt, be the result. If you make that two, three things daily - you won't recognize your former self!

This is the same in a successful, lasting weight loss process. If you eat healthy and exercise, you don't necessarily feel any big, dramatic change on a day-to-day basis. Yet, you can look back a year later and see a profound transformation!

You may also find that once you begin to revolutionize your self-talk, allow intuition about how you think and act to bubble to the surface for examination or change, that you may just have addressed negative feelings that were causing behaviors resulting in weight and energy problems. "Emotional eating" episodes have become a thing of the past; especially since you are not storing up hunger by starving yourself thin!

Because YOU took the surefire, lasting fitness victory train.

Persistence colored with compassion is the winning ticket.
Don't you forget it.
